For Android

Only the music you already own.

BASE is a calm player for the audio folder on your Blanket server. Stream what you want, keep what you need offline, and mark the moments worth returning to.

  • Streams on demand
  • Offline, Wi-Fi only
  • Timestamps
  • Lock-screen controls
  • Light and dark

What it does

Simple on purpose.

One folder of music on your server, one quiet app on your phone. No store, no recommendations, nothing to subscribe to.

  1. 0:00 Intro
  2. 0:35 Ambience
  3. 1:48 Rain, close
  4. 3:02 The bridge

Timestamps

Write one per line, like 0:35 ambience. Tap a row to jump there. The section you are in shows in bold, and every mark sits as a tick on the progress bar.

Download on Wi-Fi only

Offline, when you say so

Download a track, a playlist or a whole folder. Downloads wait for Wi-Fi unless you tell them not to. Recently played tracks replay offline too.

Typed, not dragged

A timestamp is a line of text: a time, then a name. Save it and a tick appears exactly where you wrote.

Edits live beside the music

Rename a track, set your own cover, add timestamps. Each change is a small file in your library folder, next to the audio. Edits made offline sync when you are back.

Keeps playing

Lock the phone, open something else. Playback carries on in the background with controls on the lock screen. Audio already on the phone plays too.

BASE timestamps editor with one timestamp per line

Timestamps

Mark the moment. Tap to return.

Long recordings, mixes and field tapes have places worth finding again. Write them down once and they stay with the track.

  • iOne line each. A time and a name, like 0:35 ambience. Nothing to drag.
  • iiTap to jump. Every line is a button. The one you are in shows in bold.
  • iiiTicks on the bar. Each mark sits on the progress bar so you can see the shape of the track.
  • ivKept with the music. Timestamps are saved next to the file in your library folder, so they survive anything that happens to the phone.
BASE downloads screen with tracks kept offline

Offline

Take it where the signal ends.

Streaming is the default. Everything else is a choice you make per track, per playlist or per folder.

  • iWi-Fi only, by default. Downloads wait for a connection you are not paying for. Turn that off if you would rather not wait.
  • iiRecently played stays. What you listened to lately replays without a connection, even if you never pressed download.
  • iiiEdits catch up. Rename or mark something on the train. It syncs to your library when you are back online.

Appearance

Paper by day, ink by night.

Light and dark follow the phone. There is one palette, warm and unhurried, and no setting to fuss over.

  • iYour names, your covers. Rename any track and give it a cover you chose. The server keeps the change in your folder.
  • iiFolders and playlists. Browse the library the way it is laid out on disk, or gather tracks into playlists of your own.
  • iiiAudio on the phone. Files already on the device play in the same player.
